2009 Valley & Ridge Gem & Mineral Show
Rome, Georgia

Club Historian Ben L. Crawford.

One reason we love to participate in the mineral shows is because we always see old friends and make new ones. Bill met a really cool local lady named Emma. She brought some cool pieces from her collection for us to see.

This was one of Emma's best pieces. It is a green Calcite specimen from Georgia.

Our friend Julian Gray, Curator of the Tellus Northwest Georgia Science Museum, stopped by. We noticed that he matched the Calcite piece. Hmmm, it might be a touch large for a bolo tie huh Julian?

Later, some of our other friends from the Tellus Museum stopped by also; Cantey Smith (Director of Education) and Jose Santamaria (Director). You can read more about the Tellus museum at: www.tellusmuseum.org .

This show had a nice variety and price range from mineral and fossil specimens all the way to finished jewelry.
